Part III
Fifth Day, Friendly
American! Fri, 8th of June 2012
It was good day, although it was cloudy we could get
many foreigners. At the first we felt so reluctant to ask foreigners because
when we had arrived Borobudur temple and we asked some foreigners, most of them
were busy.
We tried to get foreigners; we went around from Kamadatu level upto Arupadhatu
level. When we arrived on top of Rupadhatu level we found two foreigners,
because we were forbidden to practice our English on Arupadhatu’s areas. We
went up to Arupadhatu’s area by climbing the wall.
On third round terraces we approached two foreigners that came from New York
and San Francisco we talk anything about Borobudur. Their education, university
and in the middle of our conversation a security approached us he said “if
you went to practice you English just practice in Kamadhatu and Rupadhatu
level”. We were so disappointed with the security, but we did what security
said and stopped our conversation, we didn’t forget to ask their contacts and
picture.
We went around the temple, got down, and went up looked at right and left to
find foreigners. After few minutes, we felt so tired; we decided to wait for
the foreigners in entrance.
We found a foreigner who walked by himself without waiting we directly
approached him in entrance of Borobudur temple I said “sorry sir! We are
student, we are practicing our English may I bother you? Or my I accompany you
to go around Borobudur “He was so interested with us. We invited him to walk
around Borobudur. His name was Mark Wilson, he came from L.A. America.
We explained Borobudur temple as far as we knew, we asked whether there,
teenagers there, and when we arrived on top of Kamadhatu level we were so
confused, our conversation and our explaining about Borobudur had not finished
but we had to stop it we were forbidden to practice our English at
Arupatdhatu’s area, so he went up and we waited for him. During our waiting, we
concluded what we had gotten from foreigners. When Mark got down directly, we
asked his E- Mail and picture.
The fourth and fifth foreigner came from Spain. They were two brothers and
their names were Juan and Rauser. They could speak English a little bit, and
their hobby was travelling, they had visited 40 countries. Wow! It was amazing!
Juan said “I have to choose between travelling and wife”.
Sixth Day,
The Last Day for Borobudur! Sat,
9th of June 2012
Today was the
last day in Borobudur temple for our group, so tomorrow we would move to
Prambanan temple. We were thought today we might get many foreigners, it was
our thinking ‘last day the best day’.
But, how was
the fact? We got no foreigners at all! Oh my god! I thought we were doing
everything as like every day before and even with more spirit, but we did not
think so, how it can be. At least we just toke some pictures to be the last in
Borobudur temple, with many actions ‘Jepret! Jepret! Jepret!, Wek!!’ Hey,
what is that? Oh no my trouser was broke because of my jump action! Huft the
effect of over spirit, hihi..
Yeah those all
the last day in Borobudur temple just went home with a broken trouser.
Seventh Day,
Let’s
Exchange!
Sun, 10th of
June 2012
“Let’s move friends!” a scream of my friends. But
where was the bus? Oh we had to wait for our friends from group A who were
stayed there first and today would exchange with my group. I thought it would
be long time. “Woi the horses have come!” one of my friend
shouted again. “While wait for they come, we walk around Mendut and
Pawon temple first!” said our guide. Good idea! We walked around to
some Hinduism temple that near with Borobudur temple by gharry or dogcart,
Mendut and Pawon temple were become tourism resort too in Magelang, but it was
not to crowded as like Borobudur temple, and little foreigners came here.
For about an hour we walked around, when we came back to Brayat group A has
come. Than we directly farewell with Mr. Ikhwan and his family as the
house owner and good bye Borobudur welcome Prambanan!
Eighth Day, Welcome!
Mon, 11th of June 2012
Today was the first day at Prambanan temple, actually we felt bored. Oh yea
yesterday in the last day at Borobudur we walked around Mendut and Pawon temple
by horse-drawn buggy.
We started at half pass seven and finished at ten o’clock. When we arrived in
Brayat our inn, our friends from group B have come, so we directly got out from
there, we farewell to Pak Ikhwan and his family as the homeowner.
After about ninety minutes we arrived at our inn in Prambanan, bugisan village.
We didn’t think so about our inn, it was very nice. But apparently many lamp
inside were not work.
The first day at Prambanan temple we took picture together, than we hunted
foreigners. We met Dutchman, that the names were Janco and Claudette, they came
with the group of them company. They took them vacation in Indonesia for two
weeks.
For about 30 minutes we didn’t get anything, we met the security behind the
temple, we made a little conversation, he told to us about when this temple
(Brahma, Siwa and Wisnu temple) was found, when the temple got reparation, and
why we might not to enter Siwa temple, after we got some knowledge and information
from him, we walked to Brahma temple. Over there we met university student of
UGM from Brazil. He had stayed in Indonesia for eight months, he studying in
UGM about Indonesian culture. His name was Paulo Henrique. When we asked, “Why
do you choose Indonesia for your study?” Paulo answered “I
like Asia especially Indonesia“.
Ninth Day of SOP, Moskow City!
Tue, 12th of June 2012
The second day in Prambanan temple was not too bad precisely it was good day.
Although more than seven foreigners refused us, we didn’t go down, we still
tried to hunted more. Finally we got foreigners, it was better than our SOP in
Borobudur.
First foreigner that we got was from Holland they came with them group, we
didn’t talked too long with them, the name was Martin he like photography. The
second foreigners were from France. They was friendly I was learned a little
word of France to him; he came to Indonesia for vacation and took his
honeymoon.
One thing that strange was they used his left hand to wrote, when I asked
him “did you use your left hand from child?” He answered “yes,
our parents asked to us to choose what will we use, the right or left hand?.
Many people do that there“. But he said too”my writing is bad, coz I use
my left hand, although have been long” .A strange habit in his
country.
Than we met a teacher from Moskow Russia, I forgot the
name, when I say I was student and I was practicing my English and I was
studying she asked my age. I said seventeen, she said “wow that’s good,
my student like you, but they don’t want to study, they lazy to study” and
I asked “Why? Study is a step to reach our dream?” She just
said “I don’t know“.
And her friend that the name was Anton he was finished his study too. He like
travelling, had been five teen countries that visited by him. And he likes too,
to make a short movie about his travelling. He was care boy, when I told him
about my ambition to study in Oxford University, he carry me and gave me advice
how to rich my ambition and I had to get it.
Tenth Day, We were not be lost in
Malioboro
Wed, 13rd of June 2012
We had been staying in Prambanan for 3 days. Today was
sunny, the sun smiled at six o’clock; today we were going to Malioboro street
to practice our English. We had practiced our English at Prambanan and
Borobudur, than on this Wednesday our turn to practice our English was in Malioboro
Street. Wow! Practicing without uniform and in the middle of Yogayakarta town,
great!
The student prepared themselves was not usual. They got up early, they had
prepared at seven o’clock, used beautiful clothes with many hair styles and
good perfume. But there were many students didn’t pray in the mosque.
We arrived in front of Sosrowijayan Street at quarter past eight. Our teachers
and most of our friends decided to hunt foreigners in Sosrowijayan Street, but
Sufyan and I decided to hunt foreigners in Kraton. Why? When we arrived on
Sosrowijayan street we met someone, he said to us “in the morning especially at
eight o’clock, the foreigners were going to tourism resort, if you want to look
for foreigners just go to Keraton, you will find many foreigners “
We found no foreigners in the first of our arriving; we had gone around until
we went around Keraton the result was we found no foreigners. In the middle of
our trip, we decided to take a rest and pray in the mosque. We did hope we
could get many foreigners after praying.
Did we get our wish? … 3 … 2 … 1... tara …. When we arrived in Keraton we found
two foreigners but when we wanted to have conversation they refused hah! it was
tiring day. We got surprised after refusing from two foreigners. What was that?
Yah … we got two foreigners who came from Belgium they were Charlote and Roel,
they had visited 15 countries and they were going to visit Bali. We accompanied
them go around Keraton, Charlote asked us “can you explain us about
this palace” we answered ”sorry, it’s too difficult to explain
about this palace“ we were separated when they wanted to go out, in
our conversation with them we got many knowledge. First Belgium had four
seasons and in this month was summer. They could speak Dutch, English, German
and France. Did you know? Charlote and Antonie had not married, they were
friends. But they had gone wherever and whenever together, huft … I think it
had been be habit in their country.
Keraton was quite from foreigners, if we found foreigners they walked with
their guide or they could not speak English. We decided to get out when we
found no foreigners, before go out we asked guiders who sat in Pendopo “Sir,
in this time where do foreigners take a walk?” one of them
answered “just go ahead, turn right and turn right”. We
thanked be them and continued our hunting, we would not be lost because we had
asked and we believed we got many foreigners there.
As the guides said that the place which had many
foreigners when had gotten. Offer there we found many foreigners but, we were
just able to make conversation with four foreigners. The first and second
foreigners came from France they were Astrid and I didn’t speak with the man.
The third and the fourth foreigners came from Holland, they were Mack Schrichs
and I didn’t speak with the girl. We could not speak for a long time we just
made lips service cause they were going to hotel.
The most interesting things in Malioboro Street were when we were separated
with our friends and went to Keraton, in Keraton was so quite so, we went
around Keraton and found no foreigners, the second was when we knew guides in
Keraton were so old and they spoke English by Javanese accent, the third when
we was surprised when old pedicap man could get two girl foreigners in his
pedicap after many pedicap mans
who were younger could not persuade them. The fourth when Sufyan asked
foreigners and around them were pedicap man one of foreigners thought that
Sufyan was of pedicap man so, they didn’t want to make conversation with us. In
Borobudur our rivals were some guides, in Prambanan our rivals were guide and
students of university and over here our rivals were pedicap mans. We were
still curious with foreigners. Why? We never got bad comment that we need, to
improve our spirit. Most of them said “your English is good”.
We need practicing and more practicing to make our English be better. How to
make our English be better? We need writing, speaking and listening English. So
we have to do SOP well and make report SOP will be unforgettable moment.
